Northumbrian Water pays bill for Derwent Pollution

Derwent Angling Association, together with Fish Legal who acted as the association’s solicitors, have secured £19,632 in compensation from Northumbrian Water. The settlement follows legal action over a pollution incident in which approximately 3,200 litres of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) leaked into the River Derwent from the Mosswood Water Treatment Works killing an estimated 5,000 fish.
