River Wear fish protected from birds by ‘hedgehogs’
Devices called hedgehogs are coming to the rescue of fish in the River Wear in the first project of its kind in an English river, reports the BBC. Man-made refuge created for River Wear flood-risk fish
Following-on from the well-attended River Wear Fisheries Angling Workshop, organised by the Environment Agency and held at St Aidans’s College, Durham, back in February, the creation of a fish refuge on the river just outside of the city has been announced.
